Kim Young-kwang, who plays Baek Ho-rang in Take Charge of My Heart, is also the actor behind serial killer Seong Yun-o in Somebody and Moon Baek in Trigger. His new romantic comedy premiered on Netflix on October 9, 2026, pairing him with Chae Soo-bin.
It is a return to romance for Kim, whose earlier credits include Call It Love and The Secret Life of My Secretary.
Baek Ho-rang in "Take Charge of My Heart"
Ho-rang is a third-generation chaebol heir and resort executive whose artificial heart is running low on power. Chae plays Na Bo-bae, a woman who developed electrical powers after being struck by lightning as a child. Being near her recharges his heart's battery, according to Netflix's series announcement.
That dependence leads to a deal. Ho-rang needs her help for three months until another operation, while Bo-bae is a writer who needs romantic experience. He offers to fulfill her romance bucket list in exchange for helping him recharge. Their arrangement gives the fantasy premise a reason to keep bringing the couple together.
Seong Yun-o in "Somebody" (2022)
In Somebody, Kim plays Seong Yun-o, a serial killer who finds victims through a dating app. He becomes involved with Kim Sum, the app's developer, played by Kang Hae-lim.
The eight-episode Netflix series is a psychological crime thriller built around the dangerous connection between them. For viewers who recognize Kim from a disturbing dating-app drama, this is the title to look for.
Moon Baek in "Trigger" (2025)
Kim's other recent thriller role is Moon Baek in Trigger, opposite Kim Nam-gil as police officer Lee Do. The series imagines illegal firearms spreading through South Korea and ordinary conflicts escalating into gun violence.
Netflix introduces Moon Baek as Lee Do's unexpected assistant, a mysterious figure who joins the investigation into the gun-distribution network. Choose this one for a crime story focused on an expanding public crisis, rather than Somebody's dating-app murders.
Two earlier romances to watch next
"Call It Love" (2023)
Kim stars opposite Lee Sung-kyung in this romance about a revenge plan complicated by affection. Woojoo loses her home after her estranged father's death and sets out to retaliate, but her supposed enemy, Dongjin, turns out to be a lonely, gentle man. This is the choice for a relationship shaped by family hurt and an increasingly difficult decision about revenge.
"The Secret Life of My Secretary" (2019)
For another romantic comedy, The Secret Life of My Secretary casts Kim as Do Min-ik alongside Jin Ki-joo's Jung Gal-hee. He has face blindness, and his secretary's double identity complicates their relationship.
This is the workplace-romance option, with mistaken identity driving the comedy.
