A giant door, dinner side dishes and a courtyard buried in snow: Dex didn’t get a cameo in Kian’s Bizarre B&B Season 2, he got a job list. The guests cheered when he walked in, and according to the producers the welcome was even warmer than the edit shows. Their October 8 interview answers the first thing I wanted to know: why only at the very end?
Dex joined his friend Kian84 as a temporary worker in the final batch, episodes 9–10, which Netflix released on October 6, 2026. Producers Lee So-min and Kim Ji-hyun have now filled in what didn’t make the edit, from his dash straight off an overseas shoot to the crew cheering behind the monitors. Short version: the late arrival was the point, and I think it was the right call.
The cheers carried into the monitoring room
Speaking to reporters in Seoul’s Samcheong-dong on October 8, Lee said the mood on location was stronger than anything that made the programme. In Newsen’s interview report, she singled out how pleased the younger guests were and described Kian84 getting playfully jealous of the attention. The owner sulking because his temp is more popular is exactly the bit this show runs on; I’d watch an extended cut of just that.
The best backstage detail comes from OSEN’s interview coverage carried by ChosunBiz: female crew members in the monitoring room cheered just like the guests did. I love that. When the people whose job is watching the feeds start cheering at them, the surprise worked.
The regulars took to him fast, too. Lee said Kim Yeon-kyung, Lee Jun-ho and Kazuha were meeting Dex for only the first or second time, yet they got comfortable quickly; she credited his willingness to work and the fun they had hanging out afterward. He was no stranger to the boss, either: Newsen notes that Dex and Kian84 had previously appeared together on MBC’s Adventure by Accident, so the owner-and-temp double act had a head start.
Dex’s shift in Kian’s Bizarre B&B Season 2
Here is the producers’ answer to “why so late?”, and it’s better than I expected. In Xports News’s account of the interview, Lee said the staff were already tiring when he arrived, and that the timing brought out both the cast’s chemistry and Dex’s ability to get things done. Drop him in on day one and he is another famous face learning the house; drop him in when everyone is flagging and he is the reinforcement.
He worked to get there, too. Lee said Dex landed at the airport in the morning after filming overseas and travelled straight to Daegwallyeong. She thanked him for working hard on a schedule she expected would have left him tired. Airport to midwinter Daegwallyeong with no stop in between is a favour you do for a friend’s show.
The October 6 finale preview from Newsen placed his help on the seventh business day. It highlighted him opening the enormous door and making dinner side dishes, and previewed snow-clearing in the courtyard as well. That is a real shift, not a walk-on. If the side-dish part has you wondering what goes on a Korean table, our guide to banchan covers the basics.
The moment I’d point people to first, though, is the quiet one. Xports reported that Dex and Kian84 sang Kim Kwang-seok’s A Private’s Letter for a guest preparing to enlist. A cameo made of chores is fun. One where the famous temp stops to sing for a guest about to start military service is warmer, and it’s the scene I’d want clipped before the door.
A bigger house gave the regular team harder work
The chores make more sense once you remember what this format does to hospitality. In its March 24, 2025 announcement, Netflix introduced Season 1’s Ulleungdo Island house with a climbing entrance and a kitchen reached by a pole. Kian84 had two employees, BTS’s Jin and Ji Ye-eun, adapting to his design. That tells you the premise: Kian’s architecture first, the guests’ comfort a distant second.
For 2026, Netflix’s Season 2 cast listing gives him three regular helpers: Kim Yeon-kyung, Lee Jun-ho and LE SSERAFIM’s Kazuha. Lee explained at the September 22 launch that the setting moved from midsummer Ulleungdo to midwinter Daegwallyeong. One more pair of hands than last time, and winter instead of summer: the bigger team got a harder house, not an easier one.
The cast said as much before the finale. In Sports Kyunghyang’s launch coverage, former volleyball player Kim said the accommodation was uncomfortable even at her height of 192 centimetres. Singer-actor Junho said moving around to work left bruises on his knees, hands and the soles of his feet. Bruised soles is a very specific complaint, and I believe it.
Kazuha said this was her first experience running a guesthouse and that the others helped her adjust. Put those accounts together and the timing argument holds up: by the seventh business day the regulars knew the routines and Junho had the bruises to prove what the building asks of them, so Dex walked into a workload that was already visible, and his help read as help.
The show was already leading Netflix’s Korean chart
Dex didn’t rescue a struggling show, and that matters for how much credit he gets. On Netflix’s South Korea weekly TV chart for September 28–October 4, Season 2 ranked No. 1 while Season 1 stood at No. 7. Two seasons of the same guesthouse in one top ten, with the newer one six places ahead, is a franchise in good shape.
That chart week ended before the October 6 finale release, so it says nothing yet about the cameo. The real test is whether the lead holds once the season is complete and people can watch it start to finish. A late guest can lift a finale; staying near the top after it is the season’s job.
Episodes 9 and 10 are on Netflix now. If you are juggling Korean shows across services, our legal streaming guide explains the wider platform choices.
Mina’s Take
The producers won me over on the timing. Bringing Dex in when the regulars were worn down gave a short shift a reason to exist, and the launch-day stories about bruises and an awkward building make that more than a convenient excuse. My one complaint is with the preview coverage, not the show: it leads with the door, when the send-off song for a guest about to enlist is the part that tells you something about him. The cameo was a smart finale hook; the open question is whether viewers stay with the finished season. My call: Season 2 stays in South Korea’s weekly Netflix TV top three for October 12–18. A finish at fourth or lower would prove me wrong.
