TIMELINE

The journey

ORIGIN

17 trainees & the debut bet

2013 — 2015

Built by PLEDIS as a large self-producing act, SEVENTEEN previewed its lineup through the pre-debut variety show SEVENTEEN TV, letting fans watch the trainees long before launch. The name nods to 13 members, 3 units and 1 team — a structure that made in-house production and choreography the group's identity from day one.

Lineup: Thirteen-member lineup, split into hip-hop, vocal and performance units, confirmed at debut

DEBUT

Adore U & Very Nice

2015 — 2017

Debut EP 17 Carat and the bright, kinetic singles Adore U and Mansae built an early reputation for tight synchronization and self-made songs. Very Nice turned that energy into a signature, establishing SEVENTEEN as one of the hardest-working performance groups of their generation.

GLOBAL

Don't Wanna Cry & global rise

2017 — 2020

Don't Wanna Cry and Clap matured the sound while the group expanded into Japan and Western markets through relentless touring. SEVENTEEN became a stable arena act on the strength of its choreography and consistent in-house songwriting rather than a single viral moment.

BREAKTHROUGH

Million-seller breakthrough

2021 — 2023

Albums like Your Choice, Face the Sun and the FML EP pushed SEVENTEEN into million- and multi-million-seller territory, making them one of K-pop's top album acts. FML became one of the best-selling K-pop albums ever, cementing the group as a commercial heavyweight.

STADIUM

Stadiums & enlistment cycle

2023

A first stadium tour, a Lollapalooza headline slot and a UNESCO Youth Forum appearance marked SEVENTEEN's arrival as a top-tier global act, with continued comebacks like Happy Burstday into 2025. From 2025 members began staggered military enlistment, so activities now flex around the rotating lineup while the group stays active.

Anchor track: Maestro

Lineup: Woozi and Hoshi enlisted September 2025; Jeonghan serving with a June 2026 discharge; further enlistments staggered through 2026
