One hundred and nine countries, six regions, two episodes — and not one view count.
That is the Dive into You Viki announcement in one line. On Friday, October 2, Soompi reported that, according to Rakuten Viki, the fantasy romance starring Kim Ji-yeon and Park Seo-ham entered Viki's weekly viewership rankings at No. 1 in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and India in its premiere week, and at No. 2 in Oceania and Southeast Asia. Viki also puts it at No. 1 in 109 countries. One fact is missing from that report: Deadline reported in May that Rakuten Viki is an investor in the drama and a co-producer of it. The chart is a company ranking its own show. That does not make the number wrong. It changes what the number can tell you.
The six regions on the chart are the six Viki holds
The rights map against the rank map. Deadline's May 26 report listed where Viki holds Dive into You: the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Oceania, India and Southeast Asia. Soompi's report ranks it in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, India, Oceania and Southeast Asia. The same six, and no seventh. Set beside the No. 1 countries Soompi names, the announcement looks like this.
| Region Viki holds | Premiere-week rank, per Viki | No. 1 countries Soompi names |
|---|---|---|
| Americas | No. 1 | Brazil |
| Europe | No. 1 | France, the United Kingdom |
| Middle East | No. 1 | United Arab Emirates |
| India | No. 1 | India |
| Oceania | No. 2 | None named |
| Southeast Asia | No. 2 | Thailand |
The countries are placed by ordinary geography; neither source prints Viki's own region map. The chart covers every region Viki holds and nothing outside them, so "No. 1 in four regions" means four of its own six. Southeast Asia is No. 2 as a region while Thailand, inside it, is on the No. 1 list — a region rank and a country rank are separate counts, and one does not predict the other. And Oceania is the only region where Soompi names no No. 1 country at all.
Viki's stake goes back to the spring. Per Deadline, Dive into You is produced by Dexter Pictures and Japan's Amuse, with Rakuten Viki as investor and co-producer. Wikipedia's production history has the project in development at Dexter since December 2023 and announced as a Korea–Japan co-production in March 2026, with Viki joining when the cast was confirmed in May — four months before the premiere. In Deadline's piece, Dexter CEO Kim Donghyun spoke of "Viki's planning capabilities and unmatched reach when it comes to content distribution," and Viki's Chief Content Officer, Jaehee Hong, called it "a series that is truly an international collaboration." Reach was the pitch in May. In October, the first report card on that reach is one Viki wrote itself.
What the Dive into You Viki ranking counts, and what it leaves out
Start with 109. In the same article, Soompi describes Viki as streaming Asian dramas and films in more than 190 countries. So 109 is at most about 57% of Viki's footprint, and more than 80 countries are unaccounted for: either the drama was not No. 1 there or they are not part of the count, and the report does not say which. Of the 109, six are named — Brazil, France, the United Kingdom, India, the United Arab Emirates and Thailand. The other 103 are not. The headline, meanwhile, says "100+ regions" where the body says 109 countries and six regions: three units for one result.
This is Viki's own weekly viewership ranking, and a rank is an order, not a size. No views, no hours watched and no subscriber figures appear in the report, so a No. 1 by a mile and a No. 1 by a hair read the same. Nor does it say how many titles the chart covers. Soompi lists four other recent Korean shows on the service — The Ordinary Jackpot, Love on the Menu, New Recruit 4: Sabotage and Love in the Moonlight: Redrawn — without saying where any of them placed that week.
The sample is small, too. When Soompi published, the first two episodes were available. A premiere-week rank built on two episodes says people pressed play. It cannot say whether they come back.
What it means if you are deciding whether to watch
The show itself, from the two reports: Kim Ji-yeon — Bona of WJSN — plays Yoon Ha-na, an A-list actress who swaps bodies with her twin brother, Yoon Ha-ru (Jang Se-hyuk). The twins travel back in time with an old camcorder and try to prevent the death of Jung Woo-jae (Park Seo-ham), Ha-na's first love, whom Deadline describes as her childhood friend and bodyguard. Deadline's cast notes give Park Seo-ham a past in the boy band KNK plus Semantic Error and tvN's Our Universe, and Kim Ji-yeon credits that include Pyramid Game and The Haunted Palace. According to Wikipedia, So Jae-hyun directs from a script by Kim Bo-geum and Lee On; the drama premiered on Channel A on September 26, airs Saturdays and Sundays at 22:40 KST, and streams on Disney+ in South Korea.
Outside Korea, the sources stop at the six regions. Neither says which individual countries carry the drama, so the Viki title page where you live is the only real check; our guide to watching K-dramas legally covers Viki's free tier and paid plans. A regional No. 1 tells you other Viki users started it. It tells you nothing about whether a body-swap, time-travel romance is your thing. The home audience, at least, comes with a count: our Four Hands, Two Sonatas ratings piece has the Nielsen figure Soompi reported for that September 26 premiere night.
Mina's Take
I don't think this No. 1 is fake. I think it is small. A co-producer with rights in six regions put its own drama on top of its own chart in four of them, two episodes in, with no count attached. In our ranking of 2026's best K-dramas so far I wrote that buzz is not a metric; a rank without a number sits in the same drawer. The line most coverage will skip is the one I'd keep: No. 2 in Oceania and Southeast Asia. A house chart that lets the house title lose somewhere is measuring something. My call: through October 31, 2026, no report puts a view count or an hours-watched figure on Dive into You's Viki run — ranks only. If Viki publishes one, I'm wrong.
What to watch next
- Episodes 3 and 4. On the Saturday-and-Sunday schedule Wikipedia lists, the second weekend falls on October 3 and 4. It is the first one that can show whether premiere-week viewers came back.
- A week-two ranking. So far the announcement covers premiere week only. Watch whether a second one comes, and whether Oceania and Southeast Asia move off No. 2.
- A number from someone else. A view count from Viki, or a chart from a party with no stake in the drama, would be the first real test.
