Buldak Flavors Explained: Which One Should You Try?

Buldak flavors guide with Original, 2X Spicy, Carbonara, Cream Carbonara and Rosé packs above bowls of noodles

For creamy Buldak noodles, start with Carbonara or Cream Carbonara. Rosé adds gochujang to the creamy sauce, while Original and 2X Spicy suit people looking for stronger heat. The flavor name matters as much as the number: Cheese, for example, sits above both Carbonaras on the brand’s heat scale.

The Five Buldak Flavors on the Cover

Heat levels below use Buldak’s five-category scale for the reviewed regional products. They are not Scoville measurements, and two flavors in the same category can still feel different.

FlavorPack cueHeat categoryFlavor profile
OriginalBlack4/5Classic spicy chicken-style sauce
2X SpicyRed5/5Extra-hot savory sauce
CarbonaraPink2/5Creamy cheese and chili
Cream CarbonaraPale yellow and pink2/5Creamier cheese sauce
RoséSalmon pink2/5Gochujang and cream

Pack colors are shopping cues, not a universal code. Carbonara, Cream Carbonara and Rosé all use pink in their designs, so read the full flavor name. Packaging can vary by market.

Carbonara vs. Cream Carbonara

In the US Carbonara pouch, the powder contains milk, mozzarella and butter, while the liquid sauce contains chili. Cream Carbonara adds milk and cheese sauce to the liquid packet as well. Its powder includes mozzarella and a cheese blend containing cheddar, gouda and camembert.

Samyang positions Cream Carbonara as the creamier version. Both products are rated 2/5 in the catalog, so that scale does not establish a precise difference in their heat. Choose Cream Carbonara for the richer dairy profile; choose Carbonara if the regular creamy cheese-and-chili combination appeals to you.

Rosé offers a separate sauce profile built around gochujang and cream. Our gochujang and gochugaru guide explains the fermented paste used in that combination.

More Buldak Flavors to Look For

The additional varieties below appear in Buldak’s regional product records and Samyang America’s catalog. A flavor listed in one market may be absent from another. “Not listed” means the reviewed source did not provide a comparable five-category heat rating.

Stew Type appears in Korea and several other regional catalogs; Jjajang is listed in Malaysia, Indonesia and the UAE; Curry appears in Indonesia; and 3X Spicy is listed in the UAE and Thailand. These are examples of where they are documented, not exclusive sales territories. The separate Tom Yum product page describes its lemongrass, lime and chili profile.

Older Samyang Foods catalog pages also document Kimchi, Corn, Tomato Pasta, Mala and Light. The Light entry describes less spicy seasoning and nonfried noodles. Those pages confirm the product names but do not establish current shop stock or discontinuation.

This guide covers ramen in the regional catalogs reviewed on October 14, 2026, plus the older entries above. Sauces, Mac & Cheese, tteokbokki, snacks and glass noodles are separate products.

Buying and Preparing Your First Pack

Buy one pack before committing to a multipack, and check whether you are choosing a pouch, cup or bowl. Use that package’s water and cooking instructions. The reviewed US Carbonara and Cream Carbonara pouches both specify a five-minute boil and half a cup of retained water before adding the liquid sauce and powder; do not transfer those instructions to a cup or stew version.

To adjust the heat, mix in part of the liquid sauce first, taste, and add more if wanted. Using less also changes the seasoning balance. Keep the creamy powder if you want that component of the product.

If you compare the two Carbonaras, prepare the same format according to each packet before adding toppings. Extra milk or cheese in only one bowl will change the comparison.

Mina’s Take

I don’t like very spicy noodles, so I choose the creamier flavors.
