BTS iHeartRadio Music Festival 2026: The 15-Minute Set

Four songs, logged from 10:10 to 10:25 p.m. That is the set that closed night one in Las Vegas on September 18, and on the timings setlist.fm users submitted, it was the shortest timed slot of the evening. The week that followed turned out to be the bigger story.

The BTS iHeartRadio Music Festival 2026 set put all seven members of BTS — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook — on the T-Mobile Arena stage for "SWIM," "2.0," "MIC Drop" and "FYA," about 15 minutes in all. According to WION, fans came away complaining about the sound mix, the lighting and an abrupt ending. Four days later, on September 22, a segment on The Woody Show — an iHeartRadio programme — mocked Jungkook's name on air and called ARMY "losers." A host apologised; iHeartRadio, according to Variety India, has yet to react.

Night one, in minutes: the closer got the shortest slot

Night one, in minutes. The festival's setlist.fm pages are user-submitted — eight users logged attendance at the BTS set — so read these as fan-logged timings, not an official running order. Side by side, they show one thing: the act that closed the night got less time than any act with a time logged.

Kenny Chesney had a logged 30 minutes. Weezer, Cardi B and Zara Larsson got 25 each, and Cardi B fitted 12 songs into hers. BTS got 15 for four. On night two, LE SSERAFIM played six songs, from "Made My Night" to "CRAZY," in a logged 20 minutes, and Benson Boone got 25. Across both nights, only Stella Lefty, with one song logged, played fewer songs than BTS; The Smashing Pumpkins matched their four.

What those minutes held, per the setlist.fm log and iHeart.com's own recap: "SWIM" with an intro, in a rock version, then "2.0," the original version of "MIC Drop" and "FYA," with fire on the screens and flame bursts. Three of the four come from ARIRANG, which iHeart says "marked the group's official return from their years-long hiatus"; "MIC Drop" dates to the 2017 EP Love Yourself: Her. Their previous appearance at this festival, in 2020, was virtual.

20,000 in the arena, 246,000 in the stadium

The better yardstick is four months old. According to Latin Times, BTS played four shows at Allegiant Stadium in May 2026 — $49.5 million, roughly 246,000 fans — after four sold-out Vegas nights in 2022. The same outlet puts the crowd inside T-Mobile Arena on September 18 at roughly 20,000. That is about a third of an average Allegiant night, in the same city. It is the same tour whose effect on local spending we tracked around Goyang Stadium.

The organiser tells it differently. iHeart.com's recap, published September 19, called the set the ultimate "Mic Drop." The night went out live on iHeartMedia stations in more than 150 markets and streamed on Disney+ and Hulu. Before the set, as quoted by WION, the group told an interviewer: "You are truly the best fans in the world. It's amazing how you sing along to every Korean lyric."

Fans in the arena and online heard something else. WION collected complaints about the sound mix, mic levels, lighting, the abrupt ending and a set shorter than other acts got. One post it quoted: "Shame on them. This was so frustrating...some mics were too loud, others too low, the audio mix from the show was awful." Azat TV reported that iHeartRadio "has not provided an official explanation for the truncated finale."

The Woody Show runs on over 30 stations nationwide, according to Koreaboo. As transcribed by Resonate and Variety India, the segment turned Jungkook into "Jang Jook" and then "Jin Cook?", with "I don't even know what his name is" in between. Then: "Yes, the BTS Army: losers, losers, losers." Another line asked which account to tell ARMY "to go to to suck it." Koreaboo's headline calls it "Blatant Racism"; Resonate and Variety India describe the remarks as racist too.

The apology came a day later, according to Variety India, in an Instagram video from one host: "I got Jungkook's name wrong," and, to ARMY, "I did get defensive. I said some things I shouldn't have." The Change.org petition, started September 23 by "For_Jungkook BTS and ARMY," asks for an on-air apology from "Woody, Menace, and the production team" and for discrimination policies to be enforced. As of September 25 it had 228 signatures toward a goal of 500.

Latin Times lists Latin America, Australia and East Asia as the tour's next stops before year end, and the Buenos Aires show on October 24 and the São Paulo show on October 30 screen as live viewings in cinemas during HYBE CINE FEST 2026.

I can't tell you why the set ran 15 minutes — nobody at iHeartRadio has explained it so far — and a short festival slot is a scheduling grievance, not a scandal. The segment is different. Mangling a name you never bothered to learn, then calling ARMY losers, is racist mockery, and the outlets are right to name it. What most coverage misses is that both halves came from one company: iHeart.com sold the set as the ultimate "Mic Drop" while an iHeartRadio show told the same fans where to go. A host has apologised. The company has not. My call: iHeartMedia issues no public statement on the segment before BTS play Buenos Aires on October 24. If it does, I misjudged how much it wants this audience back.
